GSIC makes and agreement with the Football Development in Ukraine Fund, official partner of Ukrainian Association of Football

The GSIC deeply touched by the current situation developing in Ukraine since February 24 of this year.

We want to express our support to all the Ukrainians on the sports industry and in the world, and to use the power of our network to provide help, because the core of our philosophy has always been collaboration and teamwork, where everyone is helping each other in order to become stronger and grow together.

With this aim, we have established an agreement with the charity fund «Football Development in Ukraine» in order to help Ukrainian people, and specially children, through several initiatives.

The charity fund «Football Development in Ukraine» was established to support children and youth by involving them into football events and has been appointed as a partner of Ukrainian Association of Football during all social events.
«Football Development in Ukraine» is carrying out activities aimed to improve the lives of children affected by war, children of socially vulnerable categories of people, children with disabilities doing sport, in particular football, as a tool for upbringing and social integration of children.

As our first joint initiative, we want to start fund raiser to support this organization in the following projects:

1. Charitable Foundation “Development of Football in Ukraine” becomes a partner of UNICEF in part of the social-psychological support for children.

Ukrainian children will be given an opportunity to become a part of this program that is supposed to be delivered in 8 Ukrainian regions (Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Volyn, Rivne, Khmelnitsky, Chernivets, Ternopil, Transcarpathian regions). In each region there will be 3 locations/villages. Each location will receive 30 (or more, depending on capacity) children.

Split in groups of 10, the children will participate in twice per week in sessions that will be focused on their social and psychological recovery. These sessions will be organized in a specialized location (ideally, a football field and camp) in a Ukrainian village in the west of the country. There also can be a larger number of children in the village.

Football field or other location will be divided into 3 areas:

1. Location No. 1 “Sports– at this location, children learn about football techniques: the main kicks on goal, develop the right to coordinate with the ball and receive and pass the ball. A sports coach will lead the location.

2. Location No. 2 “Health and safety” – at this location, children learn about the principles of first aid home care.

3. Location No. 3 “Security area – at this location, children in a playful way interact with a psychologist.

Besides these activities, there will be sessions with psychologists for the parent of the children, support for humanitarian assistance, targeted financial assistance from UNICEF, psychological rehabilitation of children through other activities, too.

Other initiatives

2. Help for internally displaced children who play football and are afraid to move to the western part of Ukraine.

3. Creation of the camp for refugees.

The project provides for the creation of a camp for internally displaced persons in the Khmelnitsky region on the basis of the hostel of the Higher Vocational Art School No. 19.

In recent decades, the hostel functioned at the level of 10-20% fullness. Conditions and conditions have been preserved since post-Soviet times. Condition of conditions: satisfactory. Such a hostel can accommodate about 200-250 people. On the territory of the school there is equipment for the functioning of the canteen, a sports ground, a sports hall and other audiences.

Funding will make it possible to equip this hostel and make it acceptable for women and children, older people. Hostel accommodation may include a 1-2 night stay for persons staying by transfer in Khmelnitsky region or a longer stay.

Since there are a significant number of children among the internally displaced persons, there is a new football ground near the hostel, where children can play football or other sports. Such leisure will contribute to the physical activity of children and adults, which in turn helps the psychological health of the project participants to a certain extent.

There are also fine art teachers who can organize meaningful leisure time.

Already today, the first internally displaced persons began to stay in the hostel for 1-2 days, most of them with small children. Through the efforts of the residents of the community, they began to collect food, it is necessary to heat the premises. The school is no longer able to pay for heating materials.
