02 Jul ZSC Lions get a closer look at their future home, Swiss Life Arena, through venue virtualization
The ZSC Lions are known as one of the premier teams in the Swiss National Hockey League, achieving great sporting success in recent years including a victory in the recent NL Championship(Swiss Cup). At this time of growth and expansion, both on and off the ice, the Swiss team decided that it was the ideal moment for the construction of their new venue in the city of Zurich, the Swiss Life Arena.
For the construction of the new arena, they wanted to follow a modern and practical line that would allow a multifunctional format to host all kinds of events, from hockey matches to corporate events.
In order to continue to ensure the highest quality for future visitors to the arena, a tender was created to virtualize it and create a 3D model to reproduce the Swiss Life Arena in detail while construction was taking place. The Spanish company 3D Digital Venue succeeded in taking over the project, landing their first project in Switzerland.
The difficulty of virtualizing an arena that is under construction is very high and requires an experienced team. The amount of architectural information is enormous, and it is necessary to interpret the relevant information in order to provide an accurate representation of the venue, and view of the ice from all seats in the arena. To achieve this, the 3D Digital Venue team has been working to produce a model that is constantly evolving during construction, adapting to the changes that may occur during this process, and adjusting all the details such as textures, colours or lighting of the new home of the ZSC Lions and their supporters. This is why the club and 3DDV have worked closely together to provide a privileged perspective of the Swiss Life Arena.
The goal of this project is to achieve a true representation, giving fans a closer look at the Swiss Life Arena while they wait for construction to be completed. The team plans to use the 3DDV virtualization map as a marketing tool to showcase its multidisciplinary capabilities and unique design as well as to integrate it later with Ticketcorner, their ticket provider, so that fans can see the exact location of their seats with a 360Âş view in every detail.
