Layercake unveils the future of media broadcasting in a live demonstration showcasing Software Defined Video networks using the award-winning Streamcake Media Orchestration and Automation platform.

[Sydney, NSW, 22nd October 2024] – Layercake, a pioneer in digital, broadcast media and live content, in collaboration with SMPTE Oceania, proudly presents a live showcase taking place on Wednesday 23rd October, demonstrating a revolutionary and innovative approach to broadcast production and distribution.

In today’s rapidly evolving media landscape, broadcasters and media enterprises require more flexibility, operational efficiency and scalability. Layercake will reveal how it has redefined how media production can be delivered with cutting-edge Software Defined Video networks and the Streamcake platform. This showcase will uncover how complex workflows can be orchestrated with ease, reducing the complexity of operations and enabling media production and distribution to occur more efficiently than ever before, at a greatly reduced cost.

The event, open to SMPTE members and friends will allow the audience to experience first-hand, how Streamcake, Layercake’s Media Orchestration and Automation platform, autonomously establishes fully operational live production workflows, seamlessly integrating best-in-breed technologies such as Grass Valley’s AMPP solution, AI-Media’s LEXI captioning and media enrichment service, and Sharon AI’s on-demand Cloud GPU Infrastructure, all connected via NEXTDC’s AXON network.

In a first-of-its-kind demonstration, Layercake will also unveil how its platform automates the live production infrastructure and deployment workflow to offer a live feed of the production that can be accessed globally via Enveu’s OTT Web Platform. SMPTE audiences worldwide will experience this production in real-time, showcasing the potential of next-gen broadcast solutions.

Cost control is now at the forefront of every broadcast operator’s strategy. The traditional model of leaving infrastructure running 24/7 is no longer sustainable. Layercake recognises that the future lies in operating infrastructure, networks, applications and workflows “as-a-service,” which allows for seamlessly deploying and destroying infrastructure.
