31 Oct BiiB Sparks a Citywide Movement: 13,000 Public Servants from 26 Ministries Unite in the Inter-Ministry Active Challenge
BiiB has successfully turned Putrajaya, Malaysia’s administrative capital, into a city of movement with the Inter-Ministry Active Challenge, uniting 13,000 public servants from 26 ministries in a daily pursuit of 10,000 steps. Held in August and September 2024, this challenge wasn’t just about counting steps; it represented a major cultural shift, inspiring government offices across Putrajaya to embrace healthier, more active lifestyles.
Putrajaya, which currently has the highest rate of non-communicable disease (NCD) cases among all states in Malaysia, is a crucial focus for wellness initiatives. An impressive 64% of participants successfully reached the daily target of 10,000 steps, signaling a strong commitment to making physical activity part of their routine. Teams and walking groups formed organically, encouraging participants to support one another through friendly competition. Beyond fitness, the challenge fostered stronger bonds and teamwork among public servants, helping them connect in new ways.
This initiative also received support from global sports brands, including Decathlon and Anta, further fueling excitement and participation. The success of the challenge was reflected in BiiB’s app, which even overtook Strava, climbing to the top of the App Store for three consecutive days. This surge in engagement underscores the potential for technology to drive widespread participation and inspire healthier habits.
While Putrajaya faces significant NCD-related challenges, initiatives like this show that real change is possible. BiiB is now setting its sights on transforming more communities and cities, both locally and globally, to combat non-communicable diseases, improve social cohesion, and promote wellness. Together, we can help people take steps—literally and figuratively—toward a healthier future.
Putrajaya is just the beginning. Ready to step up with BiiB?
