Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft (GSIC) organized the new edition of GSIC Summit 2023, the most prominent annual event in the field of sports innovation, held on May 25th and 26th at the WizinkCenter in Madrid. Organized by the Global Sports Innovation Center (GSIC), the Summit brought together renowned international leaders and experts from the sports and technology industries. With over 250 confirmed attendees from 31 different countries, including Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Andorra, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates, among others, GSIC Summit 2023 solidifies its position as a leading event in technological innovation within the sports industry. This edition, focused on “Tech Innovation in the era of web 3, AI and immersive experiences,” addressed the latest advances in technology and its application in sports.
The event was attended by entities such as LaLiga, Real Madrid, FIBA 3X3, US Soccer Federation, Power League, Global Esports Federation, European Space Agency, and various Spanish Sports Federations, as well as government organizations from Singapore, Andorra, and Indonesia. Under this theme, GSIC Summit 2023 explored cutting-edge areas such as the use of emerging technologies, including blockchain, artificial intelligence, and immersive experiences in fan engagement, media and broadcasting, esports and gaming, athlete performance, social impact, and sustainability. Industry leaders discussed how these technologies are transforming the way we experience and engage with sports. Over two intense days, attendees participated in conversations and learned from practical case studies shared by GSIC partners. This renowned event featured industry-leading experts who shared their experience and vision regarding digital transformation in sports. - “Shaping the Future of Sports: Industry Development Conversation” – In this session, Sebastian Lancestremere, General Manager for Sports Industry at Microsoft, and Alan Goh, CEO of Sport Singapore, discussed the current and future landscape of the international sports industry.
- “From Crypto to Culture: How Digital Assets are Transforming Web 3.0” – This panel featured representatives from RealFevr, Socios.com, and Metacourt, exploring how digital assets are revolutionizing our interaction with technology in the sports field.
- “Andorra Sports Innovation Hub: Programs & Projects” – Representatives from Andorra Business and Andorra Research + Innovation shared their efforts to position their country as a leader in innovation in winter sports, mountain sports, and cycling.
- “Training Smarter, Not Harder: How Sports Technology is Changing the Way Athletes Improve” – Companies like QLAC and Thermohuman, along with the United States National Football Federation, presented successful implementation cases of technologies that help measure athlete performance and prevent injuries.
