23 Sep MADCUP LAUNCHES SPORTS SUMMIT MADRID, THE NEW B2B EVENT IN THE SPANISH CAPITAL
On September 12, the launch of the first edition of Sports Summit Madrid (taking place on June 18-19, 2025) was held at the Caja de Música Auditorium in the Palacio de Cibeles, Madrid. This new B2B event, under the umbrella of sports, will bring together all industries associated with the sector. The event aims to create new avenues of collaboration and foster networking among all stakeholders in this booming industry, which, according to the latest report, generates 3.3% of Spain’s GDP, amounting to approximately 41 billion euros.
Sports Summit Madrid is designed to position the region and the city as a global benchmark in the sports sector. The event will feature exhibition zones, along with conferences, keynote speeches, and presentations aimed at enhancing training and knowledge across various areas of the industry.
Alongside Sports Summit Madrid, three additional events were announced under its umbrella: the national finals of the world’s largest educational STEM project, F1 in Schools; a job placement program to improve young people’s access to careers within the sports industry; and the inaugural edition of the Ibero-American Sports Awards, which promises to highlight the importance of sports across all regions. These awards will recognize companies, institutions, athletes, and other key players who contribute to the development of sports as an industry. One notable award is the Madrid Lifetime Sports Achievement Award, which reinforces Madrid’s position as the gateway to Europe for Ibero-America in the realm of sports.
Since its inception in March 2023, Sports Summit Madrid has garnered active support from major institutions such as the Madrid City Council (Ayuntamiento de Madrid), Madrid Region (Comunidad de Madrid), IFEMA (the event’s host), GSIC Powered by Microsoft, CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations), UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization), UFEDEMA (Union of Madrid Sports Federations), ACES, and AFYDAD (Spanish Sports Industry Association).
Sports Summit Madrid promises to be a turning point in the development of sports as a business, positioning Madrid for new investment opportunities and cementing its leadership in the international arena.
