13 Jun GESx Tech by GSIC: eSports, Thinking for the future – June 13th, 2019
Technology in a digital native sector such as electronic sports is part of the day-to-day of the industry. However, despite being an obvious asset, there is still much to see, and, in the future, it must enable an evolution of the sector and help create more sustainable models.
On the June 13th, Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft, Global Esports Summit, and Esports Bureau, organized a GESx TECH by GSIC: ESPORTS, THINKING FOR THE FUTURE, an event to learn about some technologies and projects that will evolve the esports sector in the immediate future.
After a welcome and presentation by Antonio Lacasa, Director of the Global Esports Summit, in the first presentation, Rafael Espinosa de los Monteros, Director of Esports Bureau, has made a review of the current situation of technology in esports, highlighting which are right now the most used technologies, the value they have, but above all, talking about the future challenges that technology has in the eSports and that will be fundamental to approach, so that it receives the support that this young sector really needs, helping the creation of new sustainable business models.
Our Business Development Manager, Iñigo Bonilla, spoke about the eSports working group that is being promoted from our Center, presenting some of the results that have already been obtained. He also talked about our case of success with Mediapro in the search for technological startups, where more than 50 companies participated and finally 3 were selected, with projects ranging from Chat Bot systems to gamification platforms, passing through collectibles with blockchain.
The last lecture was given by Yen Gálvez and Gustavo Muñoz, Owner and CTO and CEO respectively of EVO Holding who shared with the attendees all the news of Virtual Reality in electronic sports, which promises to reach within a very short time the levels that They were hardly thinkable a while ago. Yen Gálvez demonstrated it in situ and Gustavo Muñoz analysed how VR can also help attract more people to the sector that he does not know about right now.
After the presentations there was a round table with the aim of further deepening the technological debate of the eSports, giving fundamental voice to the more than 50 attendees who attended this day, attracted by the technological aspect of eSports.
The event was sponsored as a Networking Partner of San Miguel, thanks to who it was possible to enjoy a drink in the networking beer that closed the day.

After the success of this GESx TECH, at the end of the summer, a new experience will take place to further deepen the technology surrounding electronic sports.
According to the agreement between GSIC powered by Microsoft and GES, these events dedicated to eSports will become periodical and will cover main topics related to this are of the sports industry.
