GSIC and Challenge Andorra Research + Innovation, Andorra Business announce the winners of the second edition of Andorra Sports Startup Competition |
|
- More than 50 startups from 19 countries have applied to participate in Andorra Sports Startup Challenge
- 1 winner and 2 special mentions have been selected out of the 11 finalists, who had the opportunity to pitch their solutions in front of a jury composed by sports industry experts on May 26
- The winner will get the possibility to run a pilot project with Andorra stakeholders, participation in an industry event together with Andorra Research & Innovation and Andorra Business, accommodation, and meals + tourist visit for 2 people for 5 days in Andorra and 1-year free membership to the GSIC powered by Microsoft
After a thorough screening process, GSIC and Andorra experts made a selection of top-11 startups that come from 7 different countries (France, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, Andorra and Ukraine) and offer a wide range of solutions in different fields, with a strong focus on Youth activation, insights and education programs for governments, Artificial Intelligence and Extended Realities solutions, technology solution for sports fans to motivate their favorite teams or athletes, healthy habits and others.
These startups had the opportunity to pitch their solutions to the industry’s most relevant leaders during a special online event on May 26 and the jury, composed by leading professionals from across the global sports industry, decided the 1 winner and 2 special mentions of the competition:

The Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft worked on a document that compiles the best practices in the industry related to the different sustainability pillars in order to analyze the mayor strategies and actions applied by sport entities through different disciplines around the globe.
Today we presented this document with a round table with some of the entities mentioned in the publication alongside representatives of these areas. we are grateful for the presence of: FIBA 3×3, Juventus Football Club, Real Betis Balompié, Sport Singapore and Totem Branding.

Now, any founder interested in the program can sign up directly on the website, which means you no longer need to keep track of your referral code or URL. When founders click on your referral URL, they will automatically be redirected to the official Microsoft for Startups website where they can register their interest.
What does this mean for startups that are already in the Microsoft for Startups program?
Startups already in the program have received direct communication regarding Founders Hub and how they will be able to access its benefits. The GSIC deeply touched by the current situation desilvelving in Ukraine since February 24 of this year.
We want to express our support to all the Ukrainians on the sports industry and in the world, and to use th power of our network to provide help, because the core of our philosopphy has alvays been collaboration and team work, where everyone is helping each other in order to become stronger and grow together.
With this aim, we have established an agrement with the charity fund «Football Development in Ukraine» in order to help Ukrainian people, and specially childeren, through several initiatives.

Betmotion lifted fan engagement to the next level for the Brazilian Basketball Championship Finals |

On the 28th of May, Seyu partnered with Betmotion! and Liga Nacional de Basquete (NBB) for the first round of the Brazilian Basketball Championship Finals. Basketball fans were given the opportunity to support their favourite competitors by adding customized frames and supporting messages to their selfies, which were displayed on the giant LED screens and on YouTube livestream.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) broadcasted the Spain – Iceland match this Tuesday, March 29th, through the Escoita App. This was the first time that a game of the Spanish national team was broadcast in an immersive way for visually impaired people, in a pilot initiative that is intended to be extended to the rest of the international games.
