Andorra Research & Innovation, Andorra Business, with the support of the Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft (GSIC), and SPSG Consulting, are launching the first edition of theAndorra Sports Scale-Up Program, to select three of the best sport-tech companies in Andorra and across the world and help them in their internationalization process.
The program will focus on the sports ecosystem in Andorra, which is naturally connected with Mountain and Winter Sports, but not limited. The Scale-Up Program will help these companies to scale their internationalization efforts.
The finalist three selected startups will have the opportunity to access the three-month scale-up program and all the contents, mentoring sessions, and activities that it includes.
GameTech Challenge by Kaizen Gaming application period extended till April 7
Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft (GSIC) and Kaizen Gaming (Kaizen), one of the fastest growing GameTech companies internationally, are partnering forces to identify the most disruptive solutions and the latest technologies worldwide through Kaizen Gaming’s GameTech Innovation Challenge in the following aspects of fan engagement and interaction, UI/UX, web3.0, VR/AR and gamification of experiences:
Social Interaction: Create social funnels where Kaizen's users will be able to interact with each other while they are watching live matches or playing casino games.
Live Sport Visualizations: Use computer vision technology or any other technology in order to create 3D visualizations for live sport matches.
Gamification In iGaming: Open Challenge around Gamification in online Sports Betting and Casino. Think how p2p competitions can offer entertainment to Kaizen's users.
This call targets any company, regardless of its size and where it is based, that can solve any of these challenges, using technological innovations.
Conference on "Women in Esports and the role of Education in the Sports Industry" – March 8
At the Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft, we have been committed since our founding in 2015 to the empowerment of women in the sports industry. Currently, more than 50% of our staff are women and we are proud to know that every day we take more actions to reduce the gender gap, generating different activities and initiatives.
On March 8, we held a “Women in Esports and the role of Education in the Sports Industry” session in our Madrid HQ at which we could discuss women's representation in Esports and gaming, the challenges that they find in building their careers, and how education can help us to improve and create a healthy and safe environment for women in this industry.
We thanks our speakers from MAD Lions, GIANTS, Burger King, Influgamers, Real Madrid University School, Educational Institution SEK and University of Castilla-La Mancha and everyone who attended for participation.
GSIC Members trip to the US & US Groundbreakers Challenge – March 3-9
On March 3-9, the Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft organized a series of activities for its members in the United States with an aim to explore potential business opportunities with local sports entities.
The GSIC and members have attended MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference and Sport Business Journal Tech Week events, and on March 6 there was a private session, “US Groundbreakers Challenge” held at the Microsoft office in New York during which 12 members (sports tech providers) had a chance to pitch their solutions and have 1-to-1 meeting with entities such as City Football Group, CONCACAF, NHL, ONE, US Soccer, MLS, NBA, The Kraft Group (NE Patriots).
This activity became part of the GSIC's internationalization plan that foresees GSIC expansion to the North American continent.

This month we had a conversation with Judit Hidalgo, Director of Andorra Business to discuss how Andorra aims to diversify the country's economy by supporting local businesses and attracting foreign investment. We also talked about the challenges faced by the sports sector in Andorra, such as the need to embrace digitalization and sustainability, the Andorran government's collaboration with local sports organizations and stakeholders to support the growth of the sports industry, with a strategy centered around public-private collaboration, and support for startups in the sports industry,
The participants visited the GSIC to explore the potential and impact of digital transformation processes in ensuring sport is inclusive, sustainable, and accessible for everyone.
We covered how we utilize technology to promote the sport, sustainability, and social impact throughout the masterclass by Guillermo Marin, our Innovation Services Director.
The second part of the session included a dynamic workshop that allowed the delegation to explore how their organizations can make positive changes in their communities.
The visit concluded with a guided tour at the GSIC showroom area where the guests had a chance to experience in real-time how technology is impacting the sports industry nowadays.

Next Generation Funds for Microsoft Partners: Case Study
After the application for projects in several autonomous communities and for different concepts to help Microsoft partners receive Next Generation funds to train and certify their technicians, Nanfor has managed to get 10 Microsoft partners to obtain funds to train 846 technicians to train them in the year 2023. Currently, there are already several partners that have received the funds and are carrying out the training actions.
The GSIC is continuing to work on its expansion to Asia. New members are joining the center each month to add value to the ecosystem and to open new opportunities for our members on other continents.
International Sports Groundbreakers Challenge announces the finalists
This challenge that we organized in partnership with Sport Singapore aims to motivate businesses to think outside the box and come up with novel ideas in the same spirit as driving transformation and facilitating capability development.
Leading international sport entities have shared with us their problem statements that we worked on to present to the sport tech community within the International Sports Groundbreakers Challenge.
Over 70 startups and companies have already applied to offer their solution to the problem statements posted by sports entities.

On March 27, GSIC APAC held the "The impact of engagement – Testimony on Water Conservation" event with 4 French Young Graduates, who are crossing the world with bikes to raise awareness on water access.
This session became a lively testimony to the power of individuals and team engagement to achieve long-lasting effects on sustainability and get inspired by a group of young activists raising awareness on water conservation and pushing their own personal limits to create impactful ripple effects on sustainability.
