12 Jun GSIC signs MoU with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Indonesia
JAKARTA, June 12, 2023 – General Manager of GSIC, Iris Cordoba, and GSIC’s APAC Lead, Raj Sambwani, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora RI) and the Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft (GSIC). The signing ceremony was presided by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Dito Ariotedjo, and took place at the Media Center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Jakarta on Monday morning, June 12th.
The MoU was executed by Surono, the Deputy for Sports Achievement Improvement of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Iris Cordoba, the General Manager of GSIC powered by Microsoft. Minister Dito expressed his hope that this collaboration would elevate Indonesia’s sports achievements to the international stage.
“We are honored to collaborate with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia in driving innovation and advancement in the sports industry. Through this partnership, we aim to leverage cutting-edge technologies and foster a culture of innovation in Indonesia’s sports ecosystem. By combining our expertise in sports technology with Indonesia’s vast resources and passion for sports, we can create transformative opportunities and propel Indonesian sports onto the global stage. We look forward to working hand in hand with the Ministry to bring about positive change and contribute to the growth of the sports industry in Indonesia,” said Iris Cordoba.
“Today, Alhamdulillah, we have established the first international collaboration between the Ministry of Youth and GSIC, which is owned by Microsoft World. They represent Microsoft’s dedicated center for the development of the sports industry and sports science in Indonesia, with a focus on digital advancements,” said Minister Dito.
Through this partnership, Minister Dito aspires for Indonesian sports to gain global recognition. “We hope that by incorporating sports science, we can achieve our targets on the world stage, including in the development of the sports industry,” he stated.
He further added, “Indonesia boasts vast land areas, abundant human resources, and numerous sports facilities, all of which can be harnessed for the growth of the sports industry and the economy.”
The specific objective of this cooperation between the two parties is to foster the development of the sports industry and innovation in Indonesia, with a focus on education, innovation, and transformation.
The agreed-upon areas of collaboration entail developing the Indonesian sports industry through educational programs, establishing an experience center to promote the adoption of sports technology, facilitating and supporting the growth of the Indonesian sports ecosystem, and promoting digitalization.
