The call will remain open till February 9. The finalists will be announced on February 18 and the 3 winners will be awarded by the jury during Sports Summit Mexico event on February 26 and 27
Sports Summit México 2020 presents its Startup Competition co-organized with the Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft (GSIC). This initiative aims to create a meeting point before, during and after the Sports Summit for Latin American startups and SMEs that are developing innovative solutions applied to the sports industry. The finalists will present their solutions to the public, media and national and international sports entities. The projects will be evaluated by a jury of the sports industry professionals during pitching that will take place at Citibanamex.
The launch of this Startup Competition reinforces the commitment of Sports Summit Mexico 2020 with innovation, Latin American entrepreneurs, investors, and sports entities.
The competition will be open until February 9. The solutions must be applied to the sports industry in its different scenarios, including Team & Player Performance.,Smart Venues, Esports, Business Insights & Analytics, Media, Fan Engagement.
The application process will conclude in the selection of up to 10 finalists that will be evaluated by a jury composed of experts from the sector, during the event.
The 3 winning companies will receive a free membership in the GSIC until December 31, 2020, with all the services and advantages provided by the center to its ecosystem: networking, participation in activities aimed at innovation and applied research, B2B contacts, visibility in international media and events, among others. The winners will also be interviewed during the event by national and international media.
Esports Legal, Financial and Insurance Challenges – February 4, 10:00
On February 4 at 10:00, we will hold the third meeting of our Think Tank organized in collaboration with Global Esports Summit. This time we will host speakers from such companies as Liberbank, Ontier, and Mapfre, to discuss with them the main legal, financial and insurance aspects in Esports currently.
On January 14we held a Virtual Meeting on “Smart Stadium applied solutions”.This VM was the last one from the series of sessions with the winners of the Startup Competition 2019 that we organized together with LaLiga.
Our speakers from SolosandSnaptivityshared their solutions applied to security, anti-piracy and fan engagement at the stadium. They also talked about their experience participating in the Startup Competition 2019 and working on the pilots with LaLiga.

Business Meeting with Atlético Nacional de Medellín
On January 15 GSIC organized a Business Meeting with the Colombian sports club Atletico Nacional de Medellin where the club’s representatives were looking for innovative technologies in Fan Engagement and Business Insights areas, focused on membership, loyalty and customer services, and 12 of GSIC members had an opportunity to present their solutions on online 1-to-1 meetings.
With this initiative, GSIC aims to help sports entities in their digital transformation process and promote our ecosystem of startups and sports technology companies, creating new business opportunities.
GSIC visits ISPO for innovative startups scouting
In the last week of January, the GSIC team has attended the ISPO Munich event that gathered from January 26 to 29 more than 2,800 exhibitors who presented their most innovative products for sport at the Munich Fairgrounds.
ISPO Munich is the world’s largest multi-segment sports industry fair, offering a 360-degree view of the market such as winter sports, Outdoor, Health & Fitness, Urban, Team sports, Vision, Sports Trends, Innovation & Industry Services, Manufacturing & Suppliers.
Our General Manager Iris Córdoba was judging ISPO Brandnew 2020 Overall Winner Pitch where GSIC has offered as a prize for the winner a free membership during this year.
ISPO environment was also a perfect spot to meet the most innovative startups who are working on different smart devices, tracking systems, solutions for performance and wearables that will be joining soon the GSIC network of members in order to work together on improving the value chain of the sports industry.

LaLiga to use Sceenic’s Watch Together technology in their OTT platform

After becoming one of the 10 winners of the Startup Competition 2019, Sceenic´s Watch Together software solution will be integrated into LaLiga’s OTT platform. After the pilot period that was successful, Watch Together will be a feature available for LaLiga Sports TV users, allowing fans to watch together, fulfilling LaLiga’s biggest aim: to build a loyal and strong community.

The MEDIAPRO Group has been entrusted with the installation of Video Assistant Referee technology (VAR) in Paraguay, where January 16th saw the first round of games of the 2020 First Division (APF) season get underway. The deal sees the Group provide services for the next three seasons 2020, 2021 and 2022.
The First Division features 280 matches, with two games every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. he City Quintanar de la Orden, aware of the importance of the health of its children and youth population that sports in the Sports Schools, has reached a collaboration agreement with IGOID-SPORTEC (spin-off of the University of Castilla- La Mancha) for the implementation of the ACTIVE HEALTH SPORTEC Protocol to the members of the Sports Schools in their different modalities.
This Protocol seeks to perform a sports health survey that includes several tests, including a measurement of the percentage of fat and muscle mass, the assessment of physical condition through tests of strength and endurance, balance and postural control with pressure platform and respiratory capacity by spirometry. In addition, a simple evaluation of eating and nutritional habits will also be included.
